12 October The National Day in Spain

The National Day of Spain is celebrated on October 12 and the celebration traditionally includes a military parade which is attended the King with the royal family and representatives of all branches of government. The day is celebrated to commemorate the arrival of Columbus in Americas in 1906. It is also celebrated as the day of the Armed Forces in Spain. 

(Key Minutes: 23 'National Hymn, 34' flag hoisted; 43 'Tribute who gave their lives for Spain and patrol eagle staining the sky of Madrid with the colours of Spanish flag; 48' begins the parade with 2.600 militay of the three armies: land, sea and air;  1:07' the unit called "The legionnaires" the only military unit that walks with a different step...and whose pet is a ram.
October 12th is also known as "El Día del Pilar", Our Lady of Pilar is patroness of the Aragon region and the city of Zaragoza. TThe Aragonese capital (Zaragoza) celebrates the same day its festivities.
This day takes place the Flower Offering to the Virgin.
