"EU Youth Conference in Riga, will take place from 23rd till 26th March 2015. 

During EU Youth Conference there will be drawn up recommendations from young people and policy-makers on how to empower young people for political participation in democratic life in Europe. 
The recommendations will be put for discussion at the high-level Policy Debate with the 28 EU Youth Ministers who will give their feedback on the policy proposals."

Chain of booklovers in Riga 2014! // Cadena de amantes de los libros en Riga 2014 // Grāmatu draugu ķēde „Rīga 2014” // By Carmen Encuentra // Be the first to comment!

On 18 January we went to Riga to participate in the “Rīga 2014” opening: Chain of Booklovers. (Grāmatu draugu ķēde „Rīga 2014”)
We are excited to have participated in one of the central events on January 18 for the opening of the European Capital of Culture year in Riga.
The chain booklovers was a symbolic living chain in which inhabitants and visitors of Riga passed books down from the old building of the National Library of Latvia to the new one, the Castle of Light.
It was amazing that despite the cold weather, about -12ºC -20ºC !!!, people were dancing, enjoying and enthusiastically passing down the books from hand to hand.
Here we are all of us on this photo: volunteers from Bulgaria, Armenia, Turkey, Spain and Chinesse teachers in Latvia University.


El 18 de enero fuimos a Riga para participar en la inauguración de "Riga 2014": la cadena de amantes de los libros. (Grāmatu draugu ķēde „Rīga 2014”)
Estamos encantadas de haber participado en uno de los eventos centrales del 18 de enero para la inauguración de la Capital Europea de la Cultura del año en Riga. La cadena de amantes de los libros fue una cadena humana simbólica en a que los habitantes y visitantes de Riga pasaron libros desde el antiguo edificio de la biblioteca nacional de Letonia, a la nueva biblioteca, el Castillo de la luz.
Fue una gran experiencia a pesar del frio que hacía, ¡unos -12ºC -20ºC, pero la gente estaba bailando, disfrutando y estusiasmada pasando libros de mano en mano.
Aqui estamos todos en la foto: voluntarios de Bulgaria, Armenia, Turquía y España, y profesoras de chino en la Universidad de Letonia.

Everybody who want to join to the Chain booklovers had to register online and chooso place and time to stay in the living chain. This was the answer from the organizators:

"Paldies, ka reģistrējies Grāmatu draugu ķēdē!
Tu esi pieteicies "Brīvības bulvāris (pulcēšanās Latvijas Universitāte, ieeja no Raiņa bulvāra)" zonā laika vienībā 13.00 - 13.30.
Lūdzam ierasties pulcēšanās vietā 45 min pirms noteiktā laika un pieteikties pie koordinatoriem, kurus atpazīsiet pēc dzeltenas krāsas atškirības zīmēm (šallēm un cepurēm).
Pieteiktie grupas biedri: (...)"

Translate from Latvian to English is something like this:
"Thank you for you register in the Chain booklovers!
You are register in the "Boulevard of Freedom" area from 13.00 - 13.30.
Please, you have to arrive to the meeting point 45 minutes before the specified time and apply to the coordinators, you will recognized them by yellow signs (scarves and hats).
Registered members in the group: (...)"

Here you can see the video that a Latvian TV recorded to see the way of the book from the books perspective :). It was a small camera that people were passing down and you can hear us saying "hola, բարև ձեզ (barew jez), hello, labdien, ni hao!"
We appear in the minutes 50:58s and 51:27s!

Aquí podéis ver el vídeo que una TV de Letonia grabó para ver el camino de los libros desde la perspectiva de los libros :), fue una pequeña cámara de vídeo que la gente se pasaba de uno en uno y puedes oirnos decir "hola, բարև ձեզ (barew jez), hello, labdien, ni hao!"
