Happy volunteering day!

¡Hoy 5 de Diciembre de 2014 se celebra el Día Internacional de los Voluntarios! El año pasado lo celebramos en Letonia en JACis con jóvenes locales y voluntarios europeos!
Es un día para agradecer el trabajo que realizan todas esas personas que dedican su tiempo, conocimientos, vivencias, etc con otras personas que lo necesitan. ¡Porque cada día cuenta!

" Ser voluntario/a implica 

aprender de los demás, 

apreciar los pequeños momentos, 

cambiar de actitud hacia la vida, compartir emociones...

en definitiva, crecer como persona."

 Today, 5th of December 2014, is celebrated the International Volunteer Day! 
Last year, we celebrated this day in Latvia in JACis with local youth and european volunteers!
It is a day to appreciate the work carried out all those people who dedicate their time, knowledge, experiences, etc with others who need it. Because every day counts!

" Being a volunteer means

 learn from others,

 appreciate the little things,

 change your attitude towards life,share emotions...

definitely, grow as a person."

Mi SVE en Letonia en el boletín Reve / My EVS in Latvia in the Reve newsletter // By Carmen Encuentra // Be the first to comment!

Desde REVE, Asociación Cultural REVE (Red Española de exVoluntarios Europeos).  se pusieron en contacto con nosotras para publicar nuestro blog y una breve descripción de nuestros proyectos en el boletín bimensual.

Podéis estar al tanto de novedades y de la publicaciones de los boletines en su página de facebook.

Es una gran ayuda contar con toda la información útil que nos dan desde la web y facebook. 

A través de los boletines nos mantienen informados sobre secciones como: erasmus+, iniciativas solidarias, becas, recursos para el futuro, experiencias de voluntarios y expectativas de futuros SVE.

You can be inform of news and the newsletters in facebook. It is a great help to have all the information they give us. Through all the newsletters they inform us with differents sections: erasmu+, solidary iniciatives, budgets, future resources, experiences of volunteers and expectations of future EVS.

¿Dónde podemos encontrar voluntarios SVE en Letonia? Vamos a verlo! / Where can we find EVS volunteers in Latvia? Let's see it! // By Carmen Encuentra // Be the first to comment!

Llegué el 3 de Septiembre de 2013 a Rezekne y fuí la primera voluntaria de los nuevos proyectos para 2013/2014, bueno junto con mi hermana (si, fue mucha coincidencia...), en pocos días llegó Joel (Portugal), y en los meses siguientes fueron llegando Prokop (Eslovaquia), Giorgi (Georgia), Aliona (Armenia), Lyudmila (Bulgaria) y en 2014 Karina (Polonia), Anas (Jordania), Kike (España), Alexandra(Rumania) y Anastasija (Rusia)

I arrived on 3rd September of 2013 to Rezekne and I was the first volunteer of the new pfojects for 2013/2014, ok, with my sister (yes, it was a coincidence...), in a few days  arrived Joel(Portugal), in the next months Prokop (Slovakia), Giorgi(Georgia), Aliona(Armenia), Lyudmila (Bulgaria) and in 2014 Karina  (Poland), Anas(Jordan), Kike(Spain), Anastasija (Russia.

Vamos que somos muchos en Rezekne. En mi formación a la llegada conocí a más voluntarios que están en Letonia y luego en facebook me uní a dos grupos de SVE en Letonia y nos podemos seguir la pista entre nosotros, pero yo me preguntaba ¿Será Rezekne la ciudad de Letonia con más voluntarios en este momento? y pregunté en estos grupos para poder diseñar un mapa y ver más claro cuántos somos ahora mismo...

Así que con los voluntarios que aportaron su comentario he completado el siguiente mapa, pero seguro que hay más voluntarios por ahí desperdigados :)

Rezekne, por el momento, es donde más voluntarios hay...aunque para mi es muy triste deciros que dos de los nuestros acaban su SVE a finales de Febrero :(

Espero que os guste el mapa y pronto le pondremos a esos números nacionalidades y más datos :)

We are many in Rezekne. In my on arrival training I met more volunteers who are living in Latvia and then in facebook I joined to two EVS in Latvia groups. I was wondering, Could it be Rezekne the city with more volunteers at this moment? and I asked in this facebook groups so I could design  a map to see clearly how many volunteers there are right now in Latvia...So with the volunteers who contributed with their comments I have completed the map below, but surely there are more volunteers scattered around Latvia :)

Rezekne,at this moment, is the city with more volunteers, but I am very sad to tell you that two of our lovely volunteers finish their EVS at the end of February :(

I hope you enjoy the map and soon I will put at this numbers nationalities and more information :)

Three months ago we started our EVS project and I want to share the poster that Linda, our cordinator, made to publish our arrival and our first activities in Zeimuls.

And also you can see the posters we made to publicize our first activity!

Hace ya tres meses desde que empezamos con nuestro proyecto SVE y comparto el cartel que hizo Linda, nuestra coordinadora, para publicar nuestra llegada y nuestras primeras actividades en Zeimuls. Hay que decir que no es nuestra mejor foto :)

If you are here, it can be that you know the EVS (European Voluntary Service) or maybe you need more information about how to participate in this European program.
First of all, the aim of this blog is share the work we are going to do in our respective projects and to describe our experience.
Start by explaining what it is and how to apply for an EVS:

The Youth in Action programme offers young Europeans the chance to make a real difference to the world – and to their own lives – through the European Voluntary Service.

EVS is a partnership project between two or more organisations allowing young people to do a voluntary service in another country.

The aim is to develop solidarity and promote tolerance, mutual understanding and active citizenship (particularly European citizenship).

A strong focus on training and personal and task-related support helps young people develop skills and competences which will be useful in their future employment or education.

NOTE: Youth in Action program was created from 2007 until 2013. 
Now, EVS is taking part in a new program, ERASMUS + (2014 - 2020).

A volunteer participates in EVS through a Sending Organisation in the country where he/she is legally resident and a Host Organisation which receives and hosts the volunteer during the Service period.
In order to get in contact with an organisation you may consult the database of accredited organisations http://europa.eu/youth/volunteering/project_en

Requirements:

Age: volunteers must be 18 - 30 years old on the application deadline (young people with fewer opportunities can participate from age of 16).

Home country: volunteers must be legally resident in the country of the Sending Organisation.

1º Finding a Sending Organization (SO). 

2º Preparing your CV Europass and a Motivation Letter.

¡ADVICE! Personalizing your Motivation Letter, be creative, sincere and above all try to express your desire to participate in that project as a volunteer.

3º Searching projects on the data base, for project's theme, country, Short/Long term, etc.  on

¡ADVICE! Focus your search on the project's theme, not the country ... You should think that you are going to spend months doing your volunteering, therefore, you have to like the work that you perform. After you select projects, you can read about the Host Organisation, the city where you could live, etc.

4º Sending your CV y ML to the Host Organization (HO) whose project you will have read previously.
 
5º Waiting...Your requests will be managed in several ways: you can receive a reply in a few days telling you the volunteer selection process is open and they count on your application, or there aren't vacancies, or they answer you several weeks or months later, or may be you don't receive a response from them...

6º Good news! You will be shortlisted or selected directly in one of the projects you have requested!

7º You have been selected! congratulations!

After being selected, begins a long process, since the project is approved until the date of your departure to the country destination, it will take months and months, but calm because your SO and HO will inform you.
In case you are selected for a project that is already approved and they are looking for volunteers urgently, you will join to the project in a short time.

So much for steps that we must continue since we started looking for the project until we are selected.
Further on we will tell you how it was in our case the following process: waiting for approval of the project by the National Agency, the departure training, Activity agreement, insurance, etc...
